Nerds Fix Internet and Email
In the late nineties, the internet was only beginning to be used in South African homes, but today it has enveloped the country and hundreds of thousands of homes now not only have internet access, but broadband connectivity that makes connecting your home PC easier and faster.
Because more and more people are connecting to the internet, over the last few years Dial a Nerd has spent more time making sure that your connection stays uninterrupted. Because you are reading this on a webpage, it is safe to say that you currently don’t have an internet connection issue on this computer, but you might one day soon and we are here to help.
Internet connection problems come in several varieties. The internet works by linking your computer to a local server, which then gives you access to the rest of the world. Sometimes that link to your local server can go down. This can be because your service provider (your local server) has a problem, you don’t have the right settings to get through, or the physical connection (your cable or modem) has a problem.
If you are disconnected, the first thing to do is check that you are plugged in correctly, and all the lights on your computer and modem that should be on are lighting up. You should also make sure that you don’t have any spelling mistakes in your username and password – your service provider won’t let you in if you don’t give them the right information.
Email problems are also very common, as email has become a critical communication method in the modern world. Most email problems come from settings in your software, but will also be affected by any internet connection problems too.
