Nerds Fix Software Problems

Software problems are often reproducible – in other words something will happen at exactly the same time when you do something specific. Say for instance that whenever you try and choose Times New Roman as a font your printer stops working.
Most of the computer problems we encounter are software related. These problems range from incorrect settings to badly installed programs or drivers. The first step is always to restart the computer! An unbelievable percentage of problems can be fixed with this easy procedure. Second step, assuming it’s a specific program or driver, is to remove it and then re-install it. Please remember to make sure you have your original software or driver CDs before doing this! Sometimes our clients install software programs from untrusted sources, and these may damage a computer as they can contain errors, faults and failures which do not allow for the program to run smoothly. It is important to only load software onto your computer from a reputable manufacturer who has the necessary support structures to help you with your problem should the program fail to work.
The most common software problems we encounter are caused by adware and spyware – little programs which install themselves without your knowledge while you’re browsing the Internet. Some merely seek to add your email address to a mailing list. Much more dangerous versions are able to capture your login details when you do Internet banking and send them to someone with ill intent. It is important to have a high quality and up-to-date antivirus program like Nod32, and also an ad-ware removal program like Spybot. These programs are free but need to be updated regularly or they don’t work.
