Although our branch in the basement of the Bryanpark Shopping Centre was established more recently than most branches, it is made up of experienced nerds who have been with the company for many years. The branch merged with the former Douglasdale branch in 2009 and is currently managed by Dial a Nerd General Manager Aaron Thornton, who has been with the company for over ten years.
The Bryanpark Shopping Centre is down the road from Grosvenor Crossing, just off William Nicol Drive, and is ideally suited to support clients in the north of Johannesburg in areas like Fourways, Dainfern, Bryanston and Randburg. Dial a Nerd Bryanston also has a large In House Support Centre, so if you don't want a nerd to come to you, bring your machine in to our nerdy basement and we'll sort it out there.
Meet the Manager, Aaron Thornton
What makes your branch unique? “It's in a basement… but even with that lack of sunlight still offers the same outstanding service that all other Dial a Nerd branches offer.”
What is the best part of your job? “Happy customers that take the time to write compliments and written ‘thank you's’ to me for a job well done by one of our Nerds.”
What types of computer problems are most common in your branch? “Software related issues usually the result of corrupted data and/or viruses.”
Do you prefer a PC or a Mac? “Mac, yes, some of us Nerds are Mac converts.”
How do you handle computers with illegal software on them? “With very careful explantions to the customer; firstly discussing costs, then reasons that they may have found themselves in the scenario and lastly listing the possible solutions available for them.”
How many computers do you have at home? “Three.”
What is a nerd? “First and foremost Nerds are smart. The Nerd that we know is one that can not only fix a computer, but has a deep understanding of what a computer means for you in terms of entertainment, socializing, running a company, communication and a doorway to the world wide web… which keeps us busy for hours.”
Aaron has been the branch manager of Bryanston since 2009.
