Realising the need for computer support in Pretoria, the nerds moved north to 'Bulls Country' to establish a branch in Hatfield, inside the Vodacom Building. Expanding quickly to meet demand, the branch moved in 2010, to a house in Constantia Park  with more room to grow, and has been growing ever since.

Meet the Manager, Alecia Oliver

What makes your branch unique? “Because we are a smaller branch we provide a much more personal relationship with our clients.”

What types of computer problems are most common in your branch? “Virus cleanup, corrupt windows and wireless network issues.”

Where do you see the IT industry in 5 years time? “We will most likely be seeing further progress in augmented reality systems.”

What are some interesting problems you face? “Dial A Nerd Pretoria is situated close to Central Pretoria and we have had the privilege of dealing with a lot of embassies. Because of that, the nerds usually end up having to fix computers in foreign languages - Russian, Japanese, German you name it. This of course not only confuses the nerds, but gets them to try and learn the language from scratch...”

What is your home computer like? “It’s is a gaming PC and I also have a passion for photography so I play around with the shots and videos have taken”

What is a nerd? “Someone that takes pride in himself and his passion for technology.”

Alecia has been the branch manager of Pretoria since 2009.
