Established in 2004, Dial a Nerd Tokai has been servicing computers in southern Cape Town for over seven years. Located opposite the Blue Route Mall, the branch covers the southern suburbs: Constantia, Diep River, Kirstenhof, Plumstead and all their surrounding areas. The branch is managed by Clynton Harris, who is also Regional Manager for all Dial a Nerd branches in Cape Town.

Meet the Manager, Clynton Harris

What makes your branch unique? “It has a dedicated staff compliment, that are always willing to go the extra mile (working late after hours, public holidays and Sundays) also a manager with years of experience.”

What is the best part of your job? “Solving puzzles, helping my staff find a solution to a problem, making a customer happy, just when it ALL comes together.”

Where do you see the IT industry in 5 years time? “Booming – everything is going digital. Computers are getting smaller. Hard drives are moving away from mechanical moving parts. Processors are almost halving their size every year while doubling their cores. The world will need more and more support as technology moves forward. A world without IT support is like having a pool without a pump and filtration system.”

How do you handle computers with illegal software on them? “No licence = No work. It’s like driving without a drivers licence. If you get caught you’re in deep $#!@ and face a heavy fine.”

How many computers do you have at home? “That would make 7 in total AND it’s still not enough – I’m pretty sure it NEVER will be. ”

Clynton has been the branch manager of Tokai since 2007.
