The original Cape Town branch, Dial a Nerd Woodstock was established in 2003 by Roberto Caprio, co-MD of Dial a Nerd. The branch is located on Roodebloem road just off the N2, and services the Cape Town City bowl and surrounding areas. As the oldest Cape Town branch, the majority of the original staff from the branch have gone on to play an integral part in the running of all the branches in the Mother City, in senior technical or management roles.

Meet the Manager, Nathan Van Reenen

Why did you choose to go into IT? “I went into IT because repairing and building computers was my hobby and passion. Finding solutions for difficult problems and being the first to come up with a solution amongst your friends is great fun.”

What would you call a really good day? “Generally most days are good days. The best days are when our workshop is full of computers, our onsite technicians are out on the road saving the day, and everyone leaves with a smile on their face.”

What does a typical working day involve? “Opening the branch early, making sure all bookings are dealt with quickly and effectively and dealing with any issues that may crop up. When I get a chance I go through the branch statistics and look for ways to improve the way we’re doing things. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s rewarding.”

Nathan has been the branch manager of Woodstock since 2011.
